Essay on the Rainy Season In English – Broadly speaking, there are four seasons in a year- summer, rainy, season winter, and autumn. Summer season means hot months. Rainy season brings rains after the heat of the summer. Then comes the winter season of cold months. It is followed by the autumn when leaves of the tree fall off and replace them with new ones.
While people in the cities do not like the rainy season, on the other hand, it is very important for the agriculturist. While in cities it brings relief from the heat of the summer, for the peasants and agriculturists it is a blessing as their crops depend upon it. People in the cities do not like it but for agriculturists living in villages, it is a harbinger, messenger of rain with the day of hope for better crops.
The rainy season is a mixed blessing. If the rains are sufficient, it means good crops and abundance of production of foodstuff, plenty of fodder for cattle, and an increased quantity of milk for the nation. There is greenery all around and arid and drylands are covered with green grass. There is no dearth of water for irrigation purposes. The Ponds, lakes, rivers, etc are full of water, rivers are full of fishes. Bengalis are happy as they eat fish. In India, people enjoy the season very much. They organize picnics in the season. Children enjoy themselves by floating paper boats and placing water on one another. They feel fresh after a deep bath in rainwater. Women have their own way of enjoying this season. They all gather at a place and enjoy a swing to the accompaniment of songs from folklore. In the background of greenery, while it is drizzling. their songs have a charm of their own and their happiness and joy know no bound.
But the rainy season sometimes presents a very horrible picture. A night when we hear the thundering of clouds and flashing of lightning and thick dark clouds cover the sky, we shudder. When it comes to torrents or a heavy downpour, it is so threatening that one feels as if the doom day has come. The floods become common phenomena in different parts of the country.
Heavy damage is caused to the crops and the lives of animals and men. Houses collapsed taking away many lives of inmates-men, women, and children. Crops are destroyed, traffic is disturbed, telephone communication is cut off. No link is possible from one part to another. Owning to the heavy damage and destruction caused to crops, the country becomes on the verge of food shortage, and the people curse this season.

So the rainy season, which is a blessing by providing great relief to the people troubled by the heat of summer, sometimes is changed into a curse for some people as much it causes destruction and a number of poisonous insects are grown in large numbers turning life to hell. As we know there are two sides of a coin, the rainy season has advantages as well as disadvantages also as discussed above. After the burning heat of May and June, the first rain comes. The whole earth feels pleasure. As animals get water to drink. They enjoy it after burning heat. Everybody is happy. Agriculture depends on rain so that farmers become happy. The citizens also get relief from burning heat. Every plant gets a new life, the peacock dances.
But on the other side, sometimes it presents a very horrible picture. The floods become common phenomena in different parts of the country. Heavy damage is caused to the crops and the lives of animals and men. But as usual, we can’t change the course of nature. So, the rainy season comes both with joy and sorrow.
